Decorating Based on the Zodiac: Water Signs

Whether you’re a Cancer, Pisces or Scorpio, we’ve got you covered!

Many a home decor enthusiast will encourage you to decorate based on your personality, but even the most self-aware person might ask themselves: What is my personality?

If that is the case for you, and you’re not totally sure about how you’d like to decorate your abode, you might consider looking no further than your zodiac sign for some design inspiration. Even the most horoscope-skeptic person just might find something that will call to them. This might be especially true for anyone who falls under a water sign—think Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio—as they tend to have some of the more mutable personalities of all the zodiac.

Without further ado, here are decorating tips for each of these lovely water signs. And feel free to borrow ideas from other signs, too. We won’t tell.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Cancers are known for being especially sensitive and kind. They place a high emphasis on friends and family, so it makes sense that a Cancer will want their home to be a space where everyone feels welcome. For that reason, a Cancer will want to have things around the house that will cater to their exceptional hospitality skills.

If you’re a Cancer who is into the whole dinner party thing, you might consider investing in a fancy-schmancy dinnerware set. If you’re more of a “Come over for coffee or tea and pastries!” kind of person, splurge on some really cute mugs (keep them assorted, as it’ll be more fun) or even a fancy tea set. You can even just go the tea tray route.

Do you like to host a variety of gatherings, such as movie nights? Make everyone feel cozy by investing in throw blankets that will easily serve you year-round.

Last but not least, if you really want to incorporate the Cancer zodiac sign, consider something that everyone will be able to enjoy, such as scented Cancer-themed candles.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

Your typical Pisces is highly emotional and sensitive, so they’ll desperately need a place in which they can retreat and recover from the day. To that end, their home should be a peaceful oasis, one that only the most treasured guests will see.

A Pisces revels in both the real world and the fantasy world, so we wouldn’t blame the average Pisces for wanting wall art that teeters on the more dreamy side, and ocean and lake-themed wall art can pay homage to this sign’s connection to the water.

Since one’s bed is the ultimate safe spot, a Pisces would do well to invest in exceptionally nice bedding and even splurge on an elegant bedside lamp. A Pisces should also consider investing in a beautiful bookshelf that will provide a secure and organized spot for their creative tools and activities.

So you’re a Pisces who wants to incorporate your actual zodiac sign? Since so much of the Pisces decor will steer fantastical, consider going for useful objects, such as an embroidered kitchen towel or a set of coasters.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

Scorpios are known to be ambitious and relentless in their pursuit of success. More power to them! On that note, a Scorpio looking to update their abode might consider installing items that will help drive said success.

The first thing that comes to mind is a great desk for the home’s office space or area—a desk from which a Scorpio could feasibly rule the world. Said desk should contain high-end accessories such as fancy pen and pencil holders, a charger organizer and a clock. (Yes, an actual clock, because checking the time on it will be far more discreet—and save you more time—than looking at your watch or phone.)

For the walls, only bold statement art will do. Choosing a piece of art simply because “I thought it was pretty” is just NOT going to fly for your typical Scorpio.

Going back to that whole ambition theme, the Scorpio dining table should be all steel and glass, with a dark dish set to match. Such materials require serious care, so if you can keep those babies intact, then you can surely handle a complex business deal!

And if you want to incorporate your sign’s symbol, go for something unexpected, like a scorpion-themed paperweight. That’ll make business partners agree to your deal.
